Milan’s Ignazio Abate: I Did Not Deserve Red Card Against Napoli

The Italian Under-21 international feels cheated after being sent off against Napoli. His side were leading 2-0 when the incident occurred in the final ten minutes, but they would go on to tie the fixture…

Milan midfielder Ignazio Abate has shown his frustration after being sent off against Napoli, an episode many feel cost his side the game.

The Italian was shown a second yellow card in the 86th minute of the game, with the Rossoneri cruising at 2-0 up. Three minutes later Luca Cigarini stuck, before German Denis completed the comeback for the Azzurri in the 93rd minute.

Abate feels aggrieved, claiming he did not deserve to be sent off.

“I had a good duel with [Ezequiel] Lavezzi. I was on him for the whole of the first half,” Abate told Tuttosport.

“The sending off that finished my game was not right. I think I didn’t deserved the first yellow.”
