Spaniard Garcia is reportedly Milan’s top summer target…
Milan have made Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia a transfer target for the summer, according to a report.
El Mundo Deportivo has reported that the Serie A champions have lined up the former Real Madrid youth product to solve their midfield woes – which has been noted for a lack of fluidity – with the likes of Mark van Bommel and Massimo Ambrosini reaching the twilight of their careers.
However, any deal for Javi Garcia will not come cheap, as it is understood the Liga Sagres side will demand a fee of around €25 million for the holding player, who is also a reported target for Bayern Munich as well as two unnamed English clubs.
Garcia, who has developed into a key player for Benfica since his €7 million arrival from Real Madrid in 2009, is under contract with the Portuguese giants until 2014, and has a release clause set at €30 million.
