Milan To Swap Striker Alexandre Pato With Arsenal’s Captain Robin Van Persie?

Pato on the verge of exit and Milan are willing to use him in order to lure the Holland star…

Reports in Italy suggest Milan will sell Alexandre Pato in the summer and will look to replace him with in-demand striker Robin van Persie.

Corriere dello Sport claim the Serie A outfit are considering the prospect of parting ways with the 22-year-old Brazilian, who has made just 45 appearances for the Rosseneri over the past two years, and see Van Persie as an ideal replacement for the former Internacional striker.

The Milan giants have been linked with the in-demand striker over the past few weeks and will reportedly step up their pursuit of the Dutchman during the summer transfer window.

Now Gunnersphere suggest that a player exchange is possible, if of course Van Persie does decide to call it quits at Arsenal.

Despite his injuries over the last few seasons, Pato remains one of the most dynamic strikers in world football. The Brazilian possesses electric pace and speed, great technical ability and also has a piercing eye for goal.

When on song he is simply unplayable. 61 goals in 141 appearances for Milan in five seasons is pretty impressive for a player who has not yet entered his prime.

But now everything has been bright for Pato so far. Injuries constantly keep him out, therefore he can’t do his best. No matter the love and the goals, Milan need the money out of Pato’s possible sale.

I’m not saying this deal should be done whatever happens, I’m merely suggesting another route we could possibly take should this occur this summer.

Pato for Van Persie? It’s not that bad of an idea…is it?

  1. In the comfort zone. It’s impossible to find a better definition about who he feels in Italy/Milan. Pato is a super talented forward, young, coachable etc. but he needs a change.

And I suppose Paris is the ideal destination.

This is going to benefit everybody. RvP desperatly needs a major trophy, Pato needs a new challenge, PSG a young striker and Milan can use the money to reinforce the roster – hiring a central defender and a defensive midfielder, for example.

    • Totally agree. On one hand I want us to sell Pato, but on the other it’s not so easy giving up on him. If I were there, I’d ship Pato out on loan, no matter where, just to see if he will make it there and stop his injuries. If so, I’d bring him back the next season.
I think that is way better then selling him for good and later regret that…
