Manchester City’s Midfielder Nigel De Jong On The Verge Of Joining Milan

Talks have been opened with City over a season-long loan deal for Dutch midfielder…

Milan are closing in on signing Manchester City’s Nigel De Jong on loan with the option to buy him at the end of the season for €7 million.

Calciomercato.com reports that Milan’s CEO Adriano Galliani sees the Dutch international as an ideal replacement for the departed Mark van Bommel. Despite noises that M’baye Niang and Bojan Krkic would be the Rossoneri’s final signings of the summer, the capture of De Jong now proves that Milan’s transfer movement isn’t over.

The 27-year-old has impressed in a variety of defensive role since joining City from Hamburg in 2009, but has now been told he can quit the club after rowing with manager Roberto Mancini over playing time.

Mancini had previously moved to offer the 27-yea-old an extension to his current contract, but the player snubbed it in the search for regular playing time, having only made 14 Premier League appearances last season in a peripheral role.

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi came close to blocking the deal, however, his daughter Brabara convinced him to let the deal go through. Now Milan want an answer from the English champions in the next 24 hours…
