Milan & Manchester City Agree Fee For Dutch Midfielder Nigel De Jong

De Jong on his way to Milan…

Milan and Manchester City on Thursday agreed terms for the transfer of Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong to the Rossoneri.

Talks for the 27-year-old have been on-going for several days and had ground to a halt this morning, but the latest reports suggest a deal has been struck. An initial €4 million offer has been made nevertheless, rising in relation to the activation of several performance-related clauses once the player moves to San Siro.

Sky Sport Italia claim the Dutchman is jetting out to Milan in order to undergo a medical and sign the contract. It is even suggested that De Jong is already at the airport with Milan directorAriedo Braida just waiting for the all-clear from Manchester City.

The 27-year-old midfielder’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, so City were eager not to lose him on a free transfer.

In the meantime, Milan’s latest arrival Bojan has chosen jersey No. 22, the one that was supposed to be vacant for Kaka. Hope never dies, though!
