Chelsea are eyeing Milan youngster Bryan Cristante.

Cristante is regarded as the next big thing to roll off the Milan production line, having enjoyed a rapid rise to the top in the last 12 months.

The 17-year-old was parachuted into first-team training at the start of last season, and capped that off by making his debut in the 2-2 Champions League draw with Viktoria Plzen in December, becoming the youngest ever Milan player to feature in Europe in the process, aged just 16 years and 278 days.

However, it has been his only taste of senior match action to date, and fearing he may be stagnating in the Milan youth team, Cristante is currently weighing up a move out of the San Siro in January. Serie A duo Juventus and Roma have already expressed an interest in snapping him up, but according to Metro, Chelsea scouts are also keeping tabs on the midfielder.

The Blues are aware of Cristante from his time with the Italian Under-17 set-up, and technical director Michael Emenalo has now informed the clubs academy manager Neil Bath that the player could be on the market, with both parties agreed that they should try and bring him to west London.

Cristante is likely to cost in the region of €2 million.

  1. I honestly never understand the hype that surrounds some players. Cristante is not a bad player at all, far from it, but in our Primavera squad last season we had at least three players (Ely, Innocenti and Comi) who are better than him.

    In this season the forwards(Petagna, De Feo, and his bizarre haircut, Di Molfetta, who I consider the second coming of FantAntonio, and Ganz) impressed me more, much more so far.

    If he was a basketball player, I’d consider him a tweener (is a term, sometimes used derisively, for a player who is able to play two positions, but is not ideally suited to play either position exclusively, so he/she is said to be in between).

    I’m not sure if he is a defensive midfielder or an offensive one.

    But I suppose he is going to stay.

  2. He is going to stay. His current contract runs until 2015 if I’m not wrong. And Cristante needs to be a bit more patient. He is only 17 and it’s difficult to promote such a young player when you’re in a crisis of result, have an incredible amount of new players and already developing two young players in the first squad (De Sciglio and El92).

    Even though I really don’t like it, you can compare De Feo with Giovinco. I think he is going to be slightly better ’cause he can score on regular basis. He is much more familiar to the back of the net than the bianconero.

    As for Petagna, he has a very very impressive football IQ. He is a slow player, but I suppose he is going to be a solid back up in a near future.

    We have an incredible number of promising forwards (Giacomo Beretta, Simoni Verdi, Comi, Zigoni, De Feo, Di Molfetta, Petagna etc.). I’m really curious to see what is going to happen with them.

    I really like Verdi&Comi.

    • Hopefully… De Feo impressed me when Milan seniors played Milan primavera. He scored an amazing goal.
      Yeah, I mean, our talent dept has a lot to offer and that is he reason they’re one of the best in Europe. I’m also curios to see what will happen in the future. They all deserve a place in the senior team.

  4. Let’s see the bright side in this news: if a superpower in the youth system like Ajax is interested in our player, it means we have quality in our vivaio.

    And I must confess that the payers who impressed me more (Modic, Gamarra, Feliciolli, Llamas, Galliani, no relation!, and Puto) now are playing for SuperPippo.
