Milan Interested In Basel’s Highly Rated Goalkeeper Yann Sommer

Have the Italian giant finally found the ideal successor to veteran Abbiati?

Milan have been following the Swiss goalkeeper for more than three months. Although they didn’t manage to lure him this season, reports claim that he will become a Milan player as early as next season. (Finally one gets to see a descent, normal and worthy player being linked to Milan…)

Calciomercatonews.com, MilanNews.it, as well as some other Italian sources, suggest that the Italian runner-up last season is already working on a plan to sign the talented goalkeeper in season 2013/2014.

The 23-year-old Switzerland international has a contract with Basel expiring in 2015 and is valued at €6 million. (It’d be a real bargain if we get a GK of this caliber for that price.)

Milan are in pole position for Sommer’s signature, but will have to be careful of the competition – such of Lyon, Udinese, Roma and Manchester City.

    • Thank you so much for the links. I managed to watch only the first half, but not the second. However, I will surely watch the second half as soon as I get free time.
From what I was able to understand the speaker, Paredes is really highly regarded in Argentina. Yesterday, when I saw that Milan have scouted him, went to check things about him on the Net. Found a story back in the summer 2010 – “Milan linked with Pastore (Palermo the time) and Paredes (Boca) exchange”. I first though that they had already signed him, or at east brought him in for trial. However, it turned out to be that Milan have been following him for a very long time, as it seems.
