Real Madrid’s Hat-Trick Hero Kaka Recalled By Brazil After 2 Years Out!!

Things can’t get better for Kaka!

Real Madrid’s Kaka was recalled by Brazil on Thursday and is set to play his first international since the 2010 World Cup.

The former Milan midfielder was included in the squad for the friendlies against Iraq in Sweden on 11 October and Japan in Poland five days later. Brazil coach Mano Menezes picked Kaka in a squad for friendlies last year, but the player didn’t join the squad because of an injury.

Kaka’s last appearance for Brazil was in the 2-1 defeat by the Netherlands in the 2010 World Cup quarter-final.

Real Madrid’s star has also admitted to be surprised to be called up to the Brazil squad again after failing to secure a regular start for Real Madrid.

“It was a surprise, I didn’t expect it,” Kaka told Brazil’s Radio Bandeirantes. “People started messaging me that there could be a surprise in the list and the expectations grew a bit. I was on alert at the time of the announcement and when it came out and I saw my name in the list everyone was really happy here. The kids, my wife, everybody really enjoyed that I was back.”

Menezes had said recently that he didn’t intend to summon Kaka again until he started playing regularly, but the coach said that the player’s determination to regain his form and his place as a Real Madrid starter played a role in his decision to bring him back now.

Kaka said he was glad that his hard work has paid off. “I didn’t talk to [Menezes], it’s been a while since I last talked to him,” he said.

Besides Ricky, there could be first caps for Gremio midfielder Fernando and Roma defender Leandro Castan, as Brazil mix-up their selection once more. There is, however, no room in the squad for Manchester United defender Rafael, Shakhtar’s Fernandinho or Lazio’s Hernanes, all of whom were thought to be in contention.

Though it is still early, many sources have already claimed to know Brazil’s starting line up, which is consistent of Diego Alves, Daniel Alves, David Luiz, Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Sandro, Paulinho, Kaka, Oscar, Neymar, and Hulk.

Brazil’s 23-man squad:

  • Diego Alves – Valencia
  • Fernando – Gremio
