Milan could become De Rossi’s escape route…
Milan have their eyes on Roma’s vice-captain Daniele De Rossi as a Nigel De Jong replacement, at least according to Sportmediaset.
It is widely known that De Rossi has a troubled relationship with Roma coach Zdenek Zeman and it is likely that the Italy international would search for an escape route in January, with Premier League champion Manchester City leading the chase.
The 29-year-old midfielder has failed to replicate the past brilliance that saw him rise to the top, and boss Zeman had recently attacked his attitude in the press, prompting speculation that he could move on. The comments are said to have riled up hot head De Rossi, who is expected to have showdown talks with Roma ahead of the opening of the January transfer window.
It is now rumored that Milan have joined the race, as they are preparing a January loan move with the option to sign De Rossi permanently for €20 million. Sportmediaset also suggest that the waged have already been agreed.
During the period of six months, Milan are supposed to pay the Rome-born ace €3 million. If he is signed permanently at the end of the season, the salary is likely to rise up to €4.5 million.
However, it is unlikely that Roma would be willing to sell one of the highest-regarded stars to an Italian team and would rather send him abroad.
