No room for a new midfielder in January…
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has today announced the list of 25 players called up for the Africa Up of Nations and has left out Milan’s injury returnee Sulley Muntari despite expressing will to play.
This is a huge boost for Milan, who recently said that they will have to wait to find out whether Muntari has been chosen to play for Ghana.
The 28-year-old midfielder has just returned to training with the Italian giants after recovering from a thigh injury that kept him out of action for three weeks. “I’m feeling really good and with God’s will I hope to be back playing with Milan again next week,” Muntari said in a statement issued on Monday.
“I’m working really hard and intend to be fully ready to fulfill my duties for my country for the CAN 2013.”
Giving Muntari playing time before the Cup of Nations and then leaving them after Christmas means that Milan were supposed to look for a suitable replacement for the Ghanaian. However, Muntari has now lost the battle and will now be available to Milan’s services.
