50% of Saponara deal now belongs to Milan…
We have said it all before, but now it is finally official – Milan have lured Empoli’s striker Riccardo Saponara on co-ownership.
The wide player, born in December 1991, is currently co-owned between Serie B side Empoli and Serie A side Parma.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Diavolo will take over 50% of his contract after agreeing to pay the Tuscan club around €4 million. However, the player will stay at Empoli until the end of the 2012/2013 season.
“Riccardo Saponara certainly falls within our new criteria” said Milan’s CEO Adriano Galliani after the negotiations at Via Turati.
The youngster, who also plays for the U-21′s for the Italian national team, has been at Empoli since 2010. He also has 65 appearances, and has scored nine goals, which was the main reason to previously be on the transfer radars of Juventus, Inter and Liverpool.
