The Italian giants have opened talks so as to lure the two Italian defenders…
Newcastle United full-back Davide Santon could be offered a route back to Italy after Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi revealed the club are keen on signing him.
The former Inter defender made the move to the Premier League in 2011 and was part of Newcastle’s successful season last year as his move to England paid handsome dividends. But he has endured a much tougher time this season with the St James’ Park club in a battle for their Premier League future.
Now Milan are set to hand him a way out as they look to improve their own season, having struggled for Serie A form which has left them sitting seventh in the table and out of the title race after seven defeats already.
Despite claiming to be happy at Newcastle, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (Gianlucadimarzio.com), has revealed that Santon’s agent is in Milan talks. Reportedly, if the Rossoneri manage to sell Italian international Ignazio Abate to Zenit, they could easily lure Santon for €7 million.
In addition, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, the San Siro outfit are set to sign Parma captain Cristian Zaccardo in a swap deal for full-back Djamel Mesbah. Zaccardo’s agent Alessandro Moggi is reportedly in Via Turati the moment, possibly finalizing the move for the 31-year-old defender.
