The Dutch international could move to Italy with a player in return…
Reports in Italy suggest Milan will sell defender Ignazio Abate and will look to replace him with Paris Saint-Germain’s AWOL man Gregory Van der Wiel.
The 25-year-old Dutch defender has found playing time hard to come by this season failing to make an impact on coach Laurent Blanc. He made a total of 22 appearances for the French side last term led by current Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Whilst Abate, who had scored his first international goal against last Friday, is only tied to Milan until June 2014.
It seems that the Rossoneri have positioned themselves in the race for the former Ajax right-back and are ready to put Abate on the bargaining table. MilanNews.it reports a loan-swap deal is the plan from Milan, who are keen to get Van Der Wiel on a six-months loan with an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
The previous month Abate had managed to score first career goal in the dying minutes of the Bogona draw in late September.
