Milan have been boosted by the news that veteran Italian full-back Gianluca Zambrotta has recovered from knee surgery in time to take part in Monday night’s crunch clash against Napoli.

The 34-year-old underwent knee surgery in early January was not expected to return to full fitness for another month. However, Zambrotta trained at full speed during Milan’s morning session and is raring to go, according to La Repubblica.

Should Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri deem Zambrotta fit to return to the line-up, the Italian international will reportedly be preferred ahead of Marek Jankulovski and Massimo Oddo.

In other news emanating from the Milan camp, Kevin-Prince Boateng is expected to replace Mathieu Flamini in midfield alongside Gennaro Gattuso and Mark Van Bommel.

Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will start upfront with either Alexandre Pato or Antonio Cassano completing the attacking trident.

The Rossoneri currently sit three points ahead of second placed Napoli.
